UC Berkeley's "Oz" system fired 100,000 laser microdoses a second at individually mapped cone cells — stimulating only the M cones, a pattern no real light can produce. The percept was a blue-green beyond the natural human gamut. They named it olo.

The left half is the most saturated teal sRGB allows — the web's standard. The right half is the same hue in Display P3, the wide gamut the app is built on.
Your display is wide-gamut — you can see the seam. That extra saturation is the raw material. And it's as far as any browser goes: the page you're reading is capped at SDR.The halves look identical? This display is sRGB — it physically can't draw the right half. That's exactly the wall the app is built past, on hardware that can.

Not spite — physics. The effect needs the full Display P3 gamut and Extended Dynamic Range driven to panel peak, on hardware we can calibrate against. Apple ships that. Nothing else does, consistently, and we won't pretend otherwise.

The researchers wished they could fill "the entire visual space, like an IMAX." That version is called Olo Vision Immersive.
He's right — and that's the product. Olo Vision doesn't put olo on your screen; nothing can. It uses the full P3 gamut and 1,600 nits of XDR to set your eyes up, then your own visual system takes the last step. Point a colorimeter at the display during the reveal and it reads an ordinary teal. No instrument will ever record what you saw — the color exists only in you. That's the same magic that makes olo olo: it was never light. It only exists in the seeing.
